Benzalacetone Synthase, compatible with MoClo
This enzyme catalyses the condensation of p-coumaroyl coA with malonyl coA to form p-hydroxybenzalacetone. This is an important step in the biosynthesis of raspberry ketone, the main odour and flavour constituent of raspberries.
This enzyme was originally cloned from Rheum palmatum (Chinese rhubarb) by Ikuro Abe at The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Shizuoka, Japan.
